9 out of 10 pregnant women report increased smelly discharge and vaginal odor
The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology report that around 9 out of every 10 pregnant women experience an unusual vaginal odor or smelly discharge.
According to ACOG "the reason is normally harmless, and caused solely be the immense amount of hormone secretions and overworking sebaceous sweat glands in the vaginal area that are stimulated into a frenzy during pregnancy. Additionally, as your body becomes deficient in vitamins and minerals that are now transferred to your baby, the pH of your vagina can be thrown off kilter."
However, if you notice any smelly discharge or increased vaginal odor, you should probably discuss it with your midwife or medical professional during a routine visit. They will most likely check for infections such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis, which can be treated easily during pregnancy. But more than likely, the smelly discharge or vaginal odor is just another pregnancy side effect that will go away post birth.
Of course many of us would prefer not to have smelly discharge or this change in our vaginal odor and while you cannot make it go away, Modibodi underpants provide a safe way to hide it. The underpants were designed with fabrics that include permanent antimicrobial properties. These properties successfully kill all bacteria and will absorb the smelly discharge, vaginal odor or fishy odor.
At least this is one pregnancy symptom you can get some relief for.
