Plastic Free Brands To Help You Reduce Your Plastic Consumption

Plastic Free Brands To Help You Reduce Your Plastic Consumption

The Modibodi office is proud to be participating in #PlasticFreeJuly, a global challenge to reduce personal consumption of single-use plastic. The thought of going plastic free for an entire month can seem a bit daunting and maybe you think it might be impossible.

However Plastic Free July isn’t about being perfect. It is about reducing plastic in a way that works for your lifestyle, whilst challenging yourself.

This can be as simple as switching to a reusable coffee cup, eliminating plastic straws or plastic grocery bags from your life, or even finding plastic free alternatives to when you purchase your fruit and vegetables – or switching to Modibodi!

We have a “Plastic Charge” jar in the office that we donate a gold coin into when we have a 'plastic slip-up'.

Below are some brands we are proud to promote in order to help you live more sustainably this month, and beyond!

The Last Object

The Last object aims to eliminate those single use household products that have a negative impact on our environment. Their original product is called the Last Swab which is a range of eco-friendly alternative q-tips that don’t have a large environmental footprint. They have two different types of q-tips, one for general uses and one for beauty oriented ones. Both are made from flexible, high-quality and non-toxic materials which are gentle on the skin and easy to clean. They also come in a convenient and eco-friendly carrying case to ensure the q-tip is stored away safely. This product is said to replace up to 1000 q-tips with the added bonus of simplifying and decluttering our lives.

The Swag

The Swag creates a compostable and sustainable solution to keep your food lasting longer. The Swag founder, Peita says that the idea behind her products came from a tremendous amount of guilt around how many rotting fruits and vegetables she threw out each day. The swag is a patented design made out of three different layers of 100% unbleached, unseeded cotton that protects, hydrates and allows fruits and vegetables to breathe in order to last longer. The bags come in a range of sizes and shapes but the large swag is recommended for first time users.

Bamkiki

Bamkiki is proudly Australian owned and designed. They were created in order to reduce the amount of plastic toothbrushes used and produced each year, which ultimately take over 500 years to degrade causing land, water and air pollution. Bamkiki toothbrushes are designed to fit an average sized adults hand whilst creating a comfortable grip. They have created biodegradable Bamboo Toothbrushes that work the same as your normal toothbrush but are eco-friendly and all natural. Everytime you purchase one of their toothbrushes, 5% is donated to Flying Doctor Service for their Outback Oral Health Service program.

Shampoo with a Purpose

Liz and Geneva the two brand owners set out to create the first Australian company to encourage packaging free display of naked soap bars, ensuring a minimal waste brand. Their OG shampoo and conditioner bar has up to 6 bottles of shampoo and conditioner with no nasty chemicals, palm oil, sulphates, animal by-products and it is PH balanced for your scalp and hair. This bar is a great plastic free alternative when it comes to washing your hair.

Their ‘Cloud 9’ Deep cleansing Balm is designed to target acne, pimples, dry or flakey skin, redness, wrinkles and sensitive skin. They use 60% less energy than regular tree pulp paper and use no water in production meaning they produce zero water pollution.
