Modibodi's War on Waste

Modibodi's War on Waste

We're waging a war on waste.

Well, we began waging a war on waste when our company first started in 2013 but we're bringing more attention to how much disposable feminine hygiene products we use with our latest campaign. If you haven't seen our soon-to-be viral video starring a well known Aussie TV personality, a dreamy French narrator and a wheelbarrow filled with pads then we'll share the link below. Before we get there, let's talk about waste.

You've probably heard the statistic a thousand times by now. The average woman will use 10,000 - 12,000 disposable feminine hygiene products in her lifetime and these convenient products come with an inconvenient environmental cost. They take 500 to 800 years to biodegrade. That means these plastic bits and bobs will outlive us, our children, their children, and their children's children. It's a grim thought but as many of us in the Modibodi office are mums and dads with bubs, it's a scary to think about how we're leaving the planet for them. Our War on Waste video filmed in conjunction with fellow eco brand Lunette aims to put into perspective how much sanitary baggage we "carry" and how much we contribute to landfills and it provides a solution - Modibodi. It's not made with the intent to guilt trip anyone who uses disposable hygiene products but raise awareness and encourage people to make more sustainable choices when it comes to that time of the month and other types of lady leaks. We want to be transparent and say this upfront: We're not perfect but we're working hard on being the most sustainable, inclusive and accessible period and incontinence underwear brand in the world so you can leave the liners and put down the pads without hesitation.

How are our products sustainable? Good thing you asked! Our products have an average lifespan of 2 years and some of our customers have even had their pair of Modibodi products for longer than that so you can have a set on rotation whenever you need to. You can save money on disposable products and you're not putting any plastics of chemicals in or on your bits - hooray! If P pants - pants made for pee and periods - aren't for you or you want them as a backup, you can always try the JuJu Period Pack or the Lunette Period Pack because they come with a menstrual cup and 2 pairs of our world famous Modibodi leak-proof undies.

In case you haven’t seen the video just yet, here’s a quick synopsis. Scarlett's weighed down by disposable feminine hygiene waste and who could blame her? There’s just so much of it. She carries it with her everywhere - on her commute to work, at lunch and all through her city - until she finds a perfect eco friendly solution - Modibodi.

Meet Scarlett and her WAR ON WASTE

We invite you to meet Scarlett and to follow her daily struggle carrying around a wheelbarrow full of disposable hygiene waste throughout the city of Sydney. Scarlett wants everyone to know that disposable waste is a struggle and is environmentally unsustainable. Thankfully Scarlett has now discovered reusable hygiene products like Modibodi & Lunette & she is much happier. Interestingly, some enviro TV programs believe this environmental issue is too squeamish a topic and too much of female problem for their male host to talk about, so just for them, we rolled it in glitter to make it more appealing! We want you to share our #waronwaste video and invite your friends to go on the journey with us to spread the word that waste is a problem, and it's our individual responsibility to help make that change.Join the War on Waste here: http://bit.ly/jointhewaronwaste(Lunette Australia Modibodi)
